Lucy Rowland
During her Dance degree, Lucy was first introduced to Yoga as a tool for strength and flexibility training. However, she continued practicing for its transformative effect on her mental health and relationship to her body.
In 2018, she completed 200 hours of teacher training in Vinyasa Yoga and has since expanded her expertise to include yoga for children, mindfulness, pre/postnatal coaching, somatics, breathwork, meditation, and anatomy.
Her mission is to support others through movement and mindfulness, offering both physical and emotional guidance, no matter what stage of life they’re in.
"I would love to see more investment in women's health, like mummy MOTs as standard when you are postnatal."
Tell us about your experience in women’s health
Through my prenatal and postnatal yoga training and certification, I'm deeply passionate about helping women navigate this change (matresence). I support them to physically prepare and then rebuild by helping them navigate the mental toll that motherhood can bring.
Why are you passionate about closing the gender health gap?
Women's health is overlooked, especially those women who are postpartum. The support they get is minimal, and is mainly focused on the baby and not the mum. Waiting lists for physical therapy are far too long – women should not have to put up with leaky bladders, painful pelvic floors and abdominals that don't function. I'm passionate about helping women to move through this stage of life, both physically and mentally.
What do you think is missing in women's health?
Postpartum support, hormone support, mental health support, and access to cognitive therapies.
