Tell us about your experience in women's health
Exercise and lifestyle modification can make a huge difference to wellness, both psychologically and physically. Before and during my own cancer treatment I used an ‘exercise oncology’ approach alongside my medical and surgical treatment to optimise my outcomes. I know it isn't easy, but it absolutely will make a difference.
Why are you passionate about women's health?
With a clinical background in women's health and sexual health, I've seen what a difference it makes to women's lives when we ‘get it right’. For too long, women's symptoms and discomfort have been accepted as just part of being a woman. It doesn't have to be, there is so much we can do to make things better. I've been through medical and surgical premature menopause and I understand the challenges it presents, and this fuels my passion to help make a difference.
What is missing from the current conversation around women's health?
The glaring gender gap. The hours and quality of life lost due to conditions like endometriosis, dysmenorrhea, menopause, incontinence... it shouldn't be considered part of normal life for women, and it can be improved.
