Managing menopause symptoms in the workplace can feel overwhelming, especially when symptoms seem invisible to others, unpredictable or hard to talk about.

Managing menopause symptoms in the workplace can feel overwhelming, especially when symptoms seem invisible to others, unpredictable or hard to talk about. At Rockmy, we’re here to make sure you feel supported, informed and confident. You deserve a workplace where you can thrive, not just cope.

More than half the population will go through menopause, yet the topic is still misunderstood or hidden at work. You should never feel embarrassed about what you’re experiencing, and you certainly shouldn’t shoulder it alone. Whether you’re navigating hot flushes, migraines, brain fog, sleep issues or emotional shifts, having the right tools, conversations and support can make all the difference.

So, here we’ve pulled together ten practical, empowering tips to help you rock your menopause at work - and help others feel confident enough to say the ‘M word’ out loud too.

Rockmy’s top ten tips

  1. Talk to your line manager or HR team

Sharing what you’re experiencing helps others understand how to support you better. This isn’t about oversharing; it’s about ensuring you have what you need to do your job well.

  1. Help normalise the menopause conversation

By speaking openly, you invite others to do the same. Normalising menopause at work helps break down walls and fosters a culture of empathy, understanding and openness.

  1. Ask if managers or HR have had menopause training

The right training ensures the right people understand how menopause can affect concentration, memory, mood, energy, sleep and overall wellbeing. If training isn’t in place, you could be the catalyst for positive change by simply asking the question.

  1. Request a copy of your organisation’s menopause policy

If one exists, knowing what support, adjustments and rights are available can make navigating symptoms far easier. If your workplace doesn’t yet have a policy, your request may help spark its creation.

You deserve to feel heard, respected and valued at work, exactly as you are.

  1. Prioritise when symptoms overwhelm you

If symptoms start affecting your work, pause, take a breath and break tasks down into smaller steps. Focus on what matters the most and speak to your manager about where you may need support, reprioritisation or adjustments.

  1. Explore flexible options

Would flexible hours, adjusted shift patterns or remote working (where possible) help you manage symptoms like disrupted sleep, fatigue or night sweats? These conversations can lead to meaningful adjustments that benefit both you and your employer.

  1. Be honest if you need time off

Menopause symptoms can be genuinely debilitating. Needing a day off doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human. Be open about the reason, just as you would with any other health issue.

  1. Empower yourself through research

Understanding your symptoms and how they affect your daily life gives you the clarity and confidence to ask for what you need. Knowledge not only empowers you, it can encourage your colleagues to feel comfortable learning more about menopause too.

  1. Seek support from your GP or a healthcare professional

If symptoms are impacting your work, it’s worth discussing treatment options, including lifestyle strategies, symptom management tools and medical approaches. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

  1. Consider starting a workplace menopause support group

Communities create change. A support group, even a small one, can give colleagues a safe space to connect, share experiences and build understanding across your organisation.

Remember: you are not alone in this.

Menopause is a natural stage of life. Not a weakness, not a misunderstanding, and certainly not something to hide. Every step you take to understand your symptoms, ask for support, or speak openly helps reshape workplace culture for the better.

You deserve to feel heard, respected and valued at work, exactly as you are. And with the right knowledge, community and support behind you, you absolutely can rock your menopause, not just survive it.

So be kind to yourself, lean on the resources available, reach out when you need to, and keep the conversation going. Your voice matters. Your experience matters. And your workplace is stronger when you show up as you. Confident, supported and empowered.
